29 standards have no assessment organisation assigned
The quietest risk on the register, because nothing about it stops you enrolling.
Twenty-nine standards on the register are marked as waiting for an assessment organisation, or as pending because the standard itself is still in development. Several are newly approved versions: Bus, Coach and HGV Service and Maintenance Technician at Level 2, Interior Designer at Level 6, Production Manager at Level 6, Cold Forming Setter Technician at Level 3 and Dental Hygienist at Level 6 all show as approved for delivery while awaiting an organisation to assess against them.
What it changed from: historically a standard reaching approved status arrived with an assessment organisation already in place, so the two were treated as the same milestone. The volume of revisions now moving through the system has separated them.
The practical consequence is a timing gap rather than a block. You can start apprentices, and typically an organisation is appointed well before the first cohort reaches gateway on a two or three year programme. On a 12 to 18 month programme the margin is much thinner.
What follows: before committing to a cohort on any newly approved version, check the register for an assessment organisation and, if there is none, ask how long the appointment process is expected to take against your planned end dates. Build the answer into your risk register rather than assuming it resolves itself. Where the gap is genuinely uncomfortable, the previous version of the standard may still be available for starts, which buys time — but check the funding rules for the version that applies to each start date before relying on that.
